The State Attorney’s Office says no criminal charges will be filed against the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputy who shot a man in a Myrtle Grove grocery store. On August 15th 29-year-old Reginald Booker shot at employees and customers in the Grocery Advantage after an altercation with an employee over using the store’s phone. No one was injured. Escambia County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Mark DeWees and another deputy confronted Booker who was shot when he pointed the gun at DeWeese. A .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol was found nearby. Booker recovered from his wounds and was charged with robbery with a firearm, shooting in an occupied building, assault on a law enforcement officer, and possession of weapon by a convicted felon.
