Escambia County Court Judge Gary Bergosh says the Escambia County Veterans Treatment Court is in need of mentors. The Veterans Treatment Court was started in 2015 in Escambia County to help veterans charged with non-violent criminal offenses related to mental health and substance abuse issues stemming from their military service. The program allows honorably discharged veterans to participate in a program that requires regular court appearances, mandatory attendance at treatment sessions and random testing for substance use. A kick-off event will be held at the Artel Gallery of Pensacola this Wednesday, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
