DRUNK DRIVER PLEADS GUILTY

A 42-year-old Pensacola woman has pleaded no contest to fleeing the scene of a fatal traffic crash after last year’s Mardi Gras parade. Pensacola Police say Cherri Baker had a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit when she collided with another car at East Cervantes Street and 19th Avenue, which was then struck by a pickup. 31-year-old Neilimar Sanchez-Neilson died from injuries she sustained in the crash and her husband was injured. Baker left the scene, but was later apprehended by Pensacola police. She faces a maximum sentence of 24 years in state prison and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 4th.
