The Florida Highway Patrol says a 13-year-old boy, struck by a vehicle last week on Quintette Road in North Escambia County in a hit-and-run crash, has died. Assistant State Attorney Greg Marcille said the driver who left the scene – 58-year-old Robert Etheridge, of Cantonment – will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death after Rylee Simmons died in the hospital over the weekend. Etheridge is accused of hitting Simmons and 12-year-old Hailey Locke on Quintette Road on April 6th and fleeing the scene. Locke was seriously injured but survived. Etheridge is also charged with one count of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.
