The opening of the bicycle and pedestrian path along the Pensacola Bay Bridge has been delayed again because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19 which is preventing a vibration safety test from being performed. That test has to be performed for safety reasons before the path can be opened. A company based in Spain was expected to do the work, but staff can’t travel to Pensacola because of travel restrictions and the contractor is looking for a company in the United States to perform the test. The 430 million-dollar bridge replacement project is scheduled to be completed in late 2021.
