ESCAMBIA SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT CANDIDATES

A citizens advisory committee has narrowed the list of 27 candidates who applied for the Escambia County School Superintendent job to 10 candidates who received the most recommendations from the 22-member committee. The eventual goal is to narrow the applicant pool down to five semifinalists whose names will be sent to the School Board for their consideration. The committee is made up of educators, members of the clergy, business executives and other community leaders. Candidates recommended come from Florida, Texas, Utah, Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, and Massachusetts and include Keith Leonard, the assistant superintendent of human resources for the Escambia County School District. No women received enough recommendations to make the top 10.
