The city of Pensacola is being sued to stop the removal of the Confederate monument at Lee Square. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by The Sons of Confederate Veterans, The Ladies Memorial Association, Save Southern Heritage and Veterans Monuments of America. It was filed before the Pensacola City Council voted to remove the monument. The suit is asking for a temporary emergency restraining order to stop the city from removing the monument until the lawsuit is resolved. The lawsuit says the city violated state and federal laws and the group’s constitutional rights.
