Escambia County is making progress with a mold problem at the Myrtle Grove fire station. In July of last year firefighters began complainingĀ of illnesses possibly related to mold exposure at the fire station at 7209 Lillian Highway. Firefighters were moved from the structure and relocated to the neighboring Osceola Fire Station. The County estimated the cost of repairs to the 40-year-old station at about $77,000. The Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Department owns the building. County Commissioners voted 4-1 vote, to invest the money now and look at rebuilding or renovating all of the county’sĀ outdated fire stations at some point in the future. Commissioner Grover Robinson cast the lone dissenting vote.
