LOCAL JUDGE ON FEDERAL JUDGE SHORT LIST

Judge Jan Shackelford is one of four finalists in contention for one of two positions as a federal judge for the Northern District one of eight applicants. Shackelford was appointed circuit judge by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2000, and she’s since been re-elected twice. President Donald Trump will nominate two candidates to send on to the Senate Judiciary Committee to affirm their appropriateness for the bench. A majority of the U.S. Senate must then vote to confirm the appointments.
