SENATOR LATVALA RESIGNS

Florida State Senator Jack Latvala – accused of sexual misconduct – has resigned. Latvala’s resignation came after increasing pressure for the veteran lawmaker to step down after the release of a report by a special master that found probable cause to support allegations he had repeatedly groped a Senate aide and engaged in a pattern of making unwelcome remarks about women’s bodies and promised legislative favors for sex. The 66-year-old Latvala sent a letter to Senate President Joe Negron announcing he would quit the Senate on January 5^th. Latvala continued to blame political foes for his downfall and asserted his innocence in the resignation letter.
