The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says an 8-year-old girl is recovering after being shot Sunday night. Deputies responded to a residence off Highway 73 near the Jackson County – Calhoun County line and the victim was transported by life flight to Pensacola. She is said to be in stable condition. It appears the shooting was accidental and a result of negligent discharge, but the investigation is ongoing.
