EXECUTION OF PENSACOLA MURDERER TONIGHT

The execution of the man convicted of the brutal murder of a University of West Florida student almost 25 years ago is scheduled for today at 6pm at the Florida State Prison in Raiford. Eric Branch has been on death row since 1994 for the murder of UWF student Susan Morris. Branch has filed numerous appeals – most recently is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court that a new Florida law requiring a unanimous jury decision on death penalty sentencing should retroactively apply to him.  So far there was no decision from the U.S. Supreme Court and the execution is still scheduled for this evening.
