BANDED PELICANS

If you happen to see a brown pelican with a blue or green band on its leg, while enjoying outdoor activities on the Gulf Coast scientists from South Carolina’s Clemson University would like to know about it. Since 2014, researchers have banded 850 pelicans and released them along the Gulf Coast, tracking the birds where they go. The plastic bands have a three-letter identification code that tells the scientists where the bird was banded and when.
