GEL MANICURE CANCER RISK

For those who like to have their nails done gel manicures are very popular. The make nails look shiny and durable, last longer than standard manicures and dry more quickly. That’s because ultra-violet  lights are used to cure the gel polish. But doctors are concerned. Some dermatologists say the treatment increases the risk of developing melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer because the UVA lights are four times stronger than sunlight. Many salons are phasing out the use of UV lights for nail treatments and using LED lights instead.
