FWB POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION

The Northwest Florida Daily News is reporting the City of Fort Walton Beach has hired an attorney to conduct an investigation into complaints made last week against the Police Chief and a Captain by another officer in the Department. Mark Bonfanti has been asked to review 12 complaints filed by Officer Don Hall against former Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Edward Ryan and Captain Tracy Hart. Ryan resigned Saturday after learning he was to be placed on administrative leave. Hart is on paid administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said they are also reviewing the complaints. City Manager Michael Beedie announced Captain Bill Royal has been designated acting chief.
