ROAD WORK DELAY

The Florida Department of Transportation had expected to have intersection of Highway 98 and Indian Bayou Trail in Destin open the week of June 25, but a complication will require additional work before it can be reopened to motorists. The intersection has been closed since August 2017 as part of the ongoing Highway 98 widening project. DOT district spokesman Ian Satter said an additional layer of asphalt had to be placed to adjust the elevation, which caused the delay as well as the recent rains. Satter said the work is expected to be finished by the end of this month.
