GULFARIUM TURTLE RELEASE

The Gulfarium’s C.A.R.E. Center – a nonprofit foundation advocates coastal conservation through marine animal rescue and rehabilitation, released nine rehabilitated sea turtles before nearly 1,000 onlookers Six juvenile green sea turtles that had been hooked by fishermen, a 58-pound and an 83-pound endangered Kemp’s Ridley with injured flippers, and an 80-pound sub-adult Loggerhead with only one front flipper were all returned to Gulf waters. The C.A.R.E Center – an acronym that stands for Conserve, Act, Rehabilitate, and Educate – hosts turtle releases at least once a month.
