The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a $2,500 reward to help find those who removed eggs from a protected shorebird nesting site near Dauphin Island, killing hundreds of Least Tern chicks. The eggs were removed by beach goers in order to make room for a volleyball net and several tents on a small barrier island at the mouth of Mobile Bay during the fourth of July weekend. The chicks died inside the eggs after sitting out in the hot sun. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
