Fire officials in Escambia County are warning people about cooking dangers after fire fighters were called to a Pensacola home after a microwave shorted-out. They recommend that oven and stove tops be clean and free of grease and other combustibles – that rags, towels, mitts and food packages be kept away from the burners and that pot handles be turned toward the back of the stove-top to prevent small children from pulling pots of hot liquids off the stove.
