FATAL FORKLIFT ACCIDENT

The Shalimar Police Department says a man – acting as a spotter for a forklift operator – killed yesterday afternoon when he was hit in the head by a beam. Timothy Hassenplug was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The incident was reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate. Marina owners said the forklift operator is an independent contractor and that Hassenplug was an employee of that vendor, not of the marina.
