Melissa Howard was beaten and stabbed to death in her home back in 2006. Now a man accused of her murder is on trial in Crestview, nearly 13 years after her death. David Holbrook Jr. was arrested in 2016, after investigators reviewed the evidence using techniques not available ten years earlier. Prosecutors say he was the one who fatally beat and stabbed her. Jurors heard opening statements yesterday morning.
