CONTAMINATED DRINKING WATER

The Navy has found chemicals from the foam used in fire-fighting training in private residences water wells in Saufley Field area. Officials say preliminary lab results from sampling at private residences in the areas surrounding the western side of Saufley Field indicate the presence of per-flora-nated chemicals. The Navy is providing bottled drinking water to the owners of private water wells in which the water concentrations exceed the EPA’s lifetime health advisory. The Navy says they will work to develop a long-term solution and is also encouraging residents to have their wells tested.
