ALABAMA GAS TAX INCREASE

Alabama’s governor Kay Ivey is proposing a 10-cent per gallon gas tax increase. She said the money would help fund her Rebuild Alabama Infrastructure Plan. The state currently imposes a tax of 18 cents-per-gallon on gas and 19 cents-per-gallon on diesel. The plan’s 10-cent increase would be phased in over the next three years and the revenue dispersed between state, county, and municipal governments in Alabama and used for transportation infrastructure improvement, preservation and maintenance projects.
