DUI HIT-AND-RUN ARREST

A Pensacola man has been charged with child neglect and DUI, after he crashed into a vehicle and then drove off. Pensacola police responded to the area of North “G” Street and LaRua Street on Monday to a report of a hit-and-run. Police found the car stopped at “F” and Belmont streets and 62-year-old Gilberto Andrews passed out in the driver’s seat. Officers said they detected an odor of alcohol and there was a child was in the front passenger seat, but no car seat was in the vehicle. Andrews had no driver’s license, vehicle registration or proof of insurance and was booked into the Escambia County Jail on charges of hit-and-run, DUI, and child neglect. The child was taken by a family member.
