An environmental group says they want Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to stop issuing new oil-drilling permits and to ban fracking. They say they are concerned that the recent earthquakes in the area near the Florida-Alabama line may be linked to oil and gas operations. The group, Food & Water Watch, said that while they do not believe fracking is happening in Florida, it is allowed in Alabama. The United States Geological Survey says the area sits on the Bahamas Seismic Zone and they have installed additional seismic recording devices to allow scientists to gather more data.
