ESCAMBIA CO. CORRECTIONS OFFICERS FIRED

The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that two Escambia County corrections officers have been fired and one resigned after a violent fight between two County jail inmates back on January 31^st. One inmate had to be transported the hospital and the other was charged with the attack. An internal investigation revealed the three corrections officers did not follow proper procedures for checking on inmates in the jail’s infirmary.  County Commissioner Doug Underhill told the News Journal he does not know if other commissioners were told about the incident, but he was not happy with how he was informed.
