FLORIDA BLIND TRUST LAW REPEALED

A law created by the Republican-led Florida Legislature that allowed then-Governor Rick Scott to shield his multi-million-dollar wealth from public view has been repealed. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the measure that was unanimously approved by the Legislature and repeals a law created in 2013 that allowed public officials to put their assets in a blind trust, controlled by an appointed trustee. Scott came under fire for his trust, which had a former business associate serving as trustee and did not include assets held by his wife, Ann. However, Governor DeSantis said that he didn’t feel that Scott abused the blind trust law.
