ESCAMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY ARRESTED

An Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested and charged with sexual battery of a child under the age of 12. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Major Andrew Hobbs said 33-year-old Deputy Jerome Zaid, was arrested Friday. Hobbs said the case will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and that steps are being taken to terminate Zaid’s employment with the Sheriff’s Office. No other details have been released.
