Because of a continued lack of rainfall the Florida Forest Service and the Alabama Forestry Commission are warning residents of both states about the increasing danger of wildfires. It has been more than a month since most of Alabama and Northwest Florida has had significant rainfall, and there is little to no relief in sight. Wildland firefighters in both states are on heightened alert and resources from other areas of the states have been prepositioned to help deal with any fires. The two agencies are also are working together along their 200-mile border to help each other fight fires if they occur.
