BEACH LIFEGUARD STAFFING LEVELS REDUCED

Starting today, lifeguard staffing on Pensacola area beaches will be significantly reduced as the summer season ends. Safety Supervisor Dave Greenwood said lifeguard towers will be removed and there will only be a few lifeguards on duty for winter staffing levels. During the summer there are 20 to 30 lifeguards on Pensacola Beach each day. Greenwood said there have not been any drownings on Pensacola Beach since last March and lifeguards made more than 230 rescues and assists during the season. Staffing levels will be increased on March 1st.
