WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

The annual Wreaths Across America event at Barrancas National Cemetery on the Naval Air Station will still take place this Saturday, but with additional security restrictions. The event is normally open to the public, but this year it will only be open to Department of Defense ID cardholders and to groups and organizations previously approved. To get approval individuals must register at www.barrancaswreaths.com by noon Friday. The event will begin at 11am with the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves and saying the name of each veteran aloud. There are approximately 44,000 veteran graves at NAS Pensacola. So far, around 14,000 wreaths have been donated.
