SIKES BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

Drivers heading to Pensacola Beach within the next month may experience some traffic delays on the Bob Sikes Bridge. A multi-million-dollar construction project could close lanes on the bridge until March. The closures will be daily Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Commissioner Robert Bender, who represents the district, says they were hoping to complete the construction during the off-season, but that didn’t happen. He also says crews will also transition the cash toll lanes to an electronic system.
