Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order to fly flags at half-staff at the Okaloosa County Courthouse, the City Hall in Fort Walton Beach, and the State Capitol in Tallahassee in honor of a former State Representative Jerry Melvin, from Okaloosa County, who passed away on February 19th. Between 1968 and 2005 Melvin served 18 years in the Florida House of Representatives.
