The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it has approved the use of the first rapid test that could detect COVID-19 in about 45 minutes. The approval was made Friday and tests will begin shipping next week. An accurate test could help reduce the pressure that the virus outbreak has put on healthcare facilities that need to effectively use their respiratory isolation resources.
