PENSACOLA CONFEDERATE MONUMENT

Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson says he will ask the City Council to decide whether to remove the city’s Confederate monument and whether to change the name of Lee Square back to its original name of Florida Square. Robinson said current city policy requires a City Council vote to rename or remove a “historical resource” of the city. Robinson said he will bring the issue to the City Council at the July 16^th meeting. Councilwoman Ann Hill, whose district includes the monument, said she is looking for alternative private locations where the monument could go.
