SANTA ROSA COUNTY TEACHERS LAID OFF

160 teachers in Santa Rosa County have been laid off or reassigned Wednesday because of declining student enrollment numbers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick said with school enrollment down – more than 1,200 students below projected numbers – fewer teachers are needed. About 82% of students said they’ll return to in-person learning this year, while 8% chose online virtual school and 10% chose remote learning.
