The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were involved in a fatal shooting yesterday near Perdido Key. Major Andrew Hobbs said deputies were responding to a suicide threat around 12:15pm and found an armed man on the beach near the 1300 block of Sandy Key Drive. Deputies attempted to talk with him, but he opened fire and was fatally shot by deputies. No deputies were injured. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
