An attorney from South Walton County has established a political action committee called “Remove Ron” with the goal of unseating Florida Governor Ron DeSanis in 2022. Daniel Uhlfelder (“You-Felder”) has been a vocal critic of the governor, claiming DeSantis has not done enough to safeguard Floridians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Uhlfelder made national news in 2020 for visiting Florida beaches dressed as the Grim Reaper to warn of the dangers of COVID-19. In March 2020, Uhlfelder filed suit against the state in an effort to force DeSantis to close Florida beaches to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but a circuit judge ruled against him.
