DEPUTY-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING UPDATE

More information has been released about the man who was shot and killed by Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies on Pensacola Beach Wednesday night. Two deputies responded to a report of an armed disturbance at the Surf and Sand Hotel on Fort Pickens Road. They confronted the male suspect and ordered him to surrender. He refused and when he pulled a gun from his waistband he was shot and killed. As is standard procedure, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating. Both deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave.
