ALABAMA CAR CHASE FATALITY 10-14-16

A vehicle pursuit that began at the Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama, after contraband was tossed over a fence ended with a fatal crash on I-65. Just after noon on Wednesday investigators from the Alabama Department of Corrections pursued the vehicle after seeing the male occupant toss a package over the fence.  As the vehicle exited I-65 it collided with another vehicle. 36-year-old Clint Hunley of Foley, a passenger in the suspect vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver – 26-year-old Jody Mikel – was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.  The driver of the other car was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The package that Hunley threw over the fence contained 25 cell phones, chargers, and 183 grams of synthetic marijuana. Mikel was charged with reckless murder, trafficking a controlled substance, and promoting prison contraband.
