An Atmore, Alabama middle school teacher was arrested Friday morning after marijuana was found under her classroom desk. The Escambia County Alabama Sheriff’s Department said the principal reported a strong odor of marijuana. A K-9 alerted on the desk used by 49-year-old Kimberly Downey and a plastic bag containing three partially burned-hand rolled marijuana cigarettes were found.

Downey was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton, Alabama, and was later released on a $6,000 bond.
