Investigators still are working to determine the cause of the January 22nd explosion that shut down operations at Cantonment’s International Paper mill for two months. Hundreds of homes were impacted by the debris that fell over an area near the after the blast. Many houses in the Woodbury Circle area were blanketed in the flaky ash-like substance that residents said damaged their properties and, in some cases, caused health issues. It will probably take at least three months for the mill to resume its full operations and the estimated financial impact is in excess of 50 million dollars. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration said a determination of the cause of the explosion should be made within the next few months. If a violation is found and a citation issued, the company will be allowed to contest those findings.
