BEACH ALCOHOL ORDINANCE 3-10-17

Escambia County Commissioners are considering whether to extend the ordinance and prohibits consuming alcoholic beverages on the boardwalk and in other non-sandy beach areas. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Eric Haines says there has been a decrease in certain crimes in the area since the alcohol ban was put in place. Some business people feel extending the ordinance will have an adverse effect on business. Escambia County Commissioner Jeff Bergosh says he might favor extending the life of the ordinance, but wants to review all the data before he makes a decision. Commissioners may schedule a vote during the April Commission meeting.
