COMMISSIONER MAY TOWN HALL MEETING 4-10-17

Tomorrow, Escambia County Commissioner Lumon May will hold a town hall meeting to discuss the homeless issue at Brentwood Children’s Park. Local business people say the park has become a popular spot for homeless because the Alfred-Washburn Homeless Center is down the street and area churches and other organizations drop off sack lunches. That has attracted unwanted activity like fights, public urination and loitering. May said he wants to come up with a solution that does not shut out the homeless, but makes people feel safe at the park again. The meeting is tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the County building at 3363 West Park Place near the Animal Shelter, and Commissioner May said he hopes churches, businesses and people living in the area will participate.
