Santa Rosa County continues to plan for a new courthouse. County commissioners directed staff to begin preparing the Avalon Boulevard land that has been designated as the future site of the building and to erect signs identifying it as the future home of the Santa Rosa County Judicial Center. Chairman, Commissioner Bob Cole, wants two signs to be set up on Avalon Boulevard and another on Mulat Road. Funding for 33the project is still not set and Commissioner Sam Parker has suggested adding a one-half cent sales tax to fund the county’s public safety and the judicial system and pay for the new courthouse. Cole said it has not yet been determined if the measure will be included on the August primary ballot or the general election in November.
