DEFUNIAK SPRINGS GRAND JURY REPORT

A grand jury report released yesterday says there are serious administrative problems in DeFuniak Springs that need immediate attention. However, grand jurors said they found no evidence of criminal or intentional wrongdoing. The grand jury was called to determine how almost $221,000 in state tax revenues were lost over a three-year period by failing to meet reporting deadlines. Grand jurors said the city violated its own laws at least three years in a row by failing to maintain proper reserve account balances. Among the recommendations made was that a revised charter be adopted since the current charter was adopted in 1905.
