The 115-year-old Gulfview Hotel in Fort Walton Beach will soon be moved to a new location. The hotel opened in 1903 and continued operating into the mid 1980s, but has been vacant for the past 15 years. It was donated to the city in December of 2016 and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Ted Corcoran, President of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber said it will be moved about a third of a mile down Highway 98 where it will become a welcome station, and also house the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Museum and some offices. The Florida Department of Transportation will determine the date and time of the actual move.
