PACE HIGH GRADUATE SENTENCED

A 20-year-old graduate of Pace High School has been sentenced to 60 days in jail for his part in the hazing death of a Florida State University fraternity pledge. Brett Birmingham was one of nine fraternity members charged in Andrew Coffey’s death from excessive alcohol consumption. Authorities said Coffey was forced to drink an entire bottle of Wild Turkey 101 bourbon. He passed out and was found unresponsive and pronounced dead hours later. The Tallahassee Democrat reports four other members of FSU’s Pi Kappa Phi fraternity pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of hazing. Three will spend 60 days in jail, and another defendant, 30 days in jail.
