PENSACOLA NAS PUBLIC ACCESS

Florida U.S. Senator Bill Nelson wants the public to have more access to Pensacola Naval Air Station – specifically the Museum of Naval Aviation and Barrancas National Cemetery. To that end he has added an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act requiring the Navy to present a plan for increased public access to both the Museum and Cemetery. The base closed its main gate off Navy Boulevard to the general public in February of 2016, saying the move was needed to bring the base in line with Department of Defense standards for military base security nationwide. Visitors must now use the west gate off Blue Angel Parkway.
