A 29-year-old Escambia County man could be sentenced to 15 years in prison for fraudulently selling used cars. Prosecutors said between November 2016 and August 2017, Manuel Jacquet advertised himself as a licensed car dealer, selling vehicles under the company name “Onest (“Honest”) Motors.” The State Attorney’s Office said Jacquet falsely represented the vehicle’s history and title status and received more than $38,000 from 11 victims. An Escambia County jury convicted him of organized fraud, selling motor vehicles without a dealer’s license, and 11 counts of sale of rebuilt vehicles without notice. He scheduled for sentencing August 10th.
